This is the great takeaway for my on the FB/Instagram deal. It adds another dimension to the old business adage… of being either first, smarter or cheating. You can just buy out the user base. Simple. But it is weird the value at which we place on things. Look at tumblr. The only “Ads” that have come up have been stupid TV show/fashion week tie-ins. Everything else is user generated content. I know some are ads but not in the sidebar ad-sense. But tumblr has some “value”, but if I were an investor I would find it extremely hard to put value in the real/nominal sense. And I am 29 years old and have been using this for nearly five years, imagine if you were 50.
