At my final photography critique…
this kid’s final project was (pay attention) a series of pictures taken on his camera phone of scenes on TV. Then he displayed them on his computer monitor, then re-took them with his SLR camera.
He asked, (and I’m not making this up), ”Do you guys think there’s any connotations of a picture of a picture of a picture?”
I got a connotation for you, it’s a 300 level intro to photography class… why don’t you not take shitty “deep” pictures and take some decent “simple” pictures.

Art 300.01… aka Intro to Film Photography… is officially over.
I have never spent so much time/money on a class ever. Film photography is quite possibly the most retarded thing ever. Historically is a novel idea, but it’s like those kooky hip-hop heads that still use vinyl and not Serato. Wake up…
Things I’ve learned in Art 300.01 (Intro to Film Photography)
- The technical aspects are not as hard as initially thought.
- Flash photography is awesome, if you can figure it out. I did not.
- Digital > Film
- I am really good at framing, not so good at much of anything else.
- Portraits are awesome.
- Film as fiction is not awesome.
- Just because people have all super-awesome cameras and super expensive film and look the type, doesn’t mean they can take decent picture.
- Susan Sontag is a crabby old hag.
- I have zero desire to ever have this as a profession or take other classes.
- Most people end up doing weddings or the Wal-Mart Portrait Center.
