Purple Heart Recipient Injured In Iraq Hit On North High Street
An Ohio State student and Army veteran is in a coma after being hit by a car overnight Sunday. According to OSU police, Chris Ritchey was riding a bicycle at West Lane Avenue and North High Street at about 2:40 a.m. Sunday.
A relative told NBC4 that Ritchey had attended a Wounded Warrior event at the Ohio State University earlier Saturday and was returning home from a gathering with other wounded warriors.
Ritchey was hit by a vehicle that witnesses described as a green Ford Taurus..
Ritchey, 28, served in the U.S. Army in Iraq and was injured in an IED blast.
Ritchey is in a coma in OSU’s intensive care unit.
