Palm IIIc

The Palm III was the first major upgrade to the PalmPilot, adding an infrared port and a bad-ass, dark-grey, more streamlined case. The first models, which came out in 1998, had the same 160×160-pixel grayscale screen as before, but the Palm IIIc pictured here, released in 2000, was the first Palm to sport a color LCD screen. Yes, folks, 256 different colors, all coexisting in harmony on your screen the way God and nature intended.

The Palm III marks the first time a Palm OS handheld used Motorola’s Dragonball processor, which, whatever its other virtues, has the most awesome name ever given to a CPU. The Dragonball was the standard processor for Palm devices for several years.

I bought one of these my freshman year of high school. I used to sync it up every morning and read news in homeroom.
